Fairhope is located on the eastern shore of Mobile Bay – a lovely location for this small town. It earned Southern Living magazines Readers Choice Award and was recognized by Coastal Living magazine as a Top 10 Romantic Escapes small town destination. 

If you subscribe to the saying “The Devil is in the details”, then you will find Fairhope one of most Satanic small towns in America. But Lucifer would feel mighty uncomfortable living in this Horticultural Heaven. Fairhope is the best-landscaped and well-manicured small town I have seen in this country. A weed in this small town won’t live long enough to see sundown. Every corner of every intersection in downtown is a celebration of greenery. I would venture to guess that this small town has more flower boxes and planters per capita than any small town in America. Each of the town’s trash receptacles is crowned with a bed of flowers. I felt guilty tossing my banana peel into such a clean container. If you are a city administrator who aspires to spruce up your town’s municipal image, get your butt down to Southern Alabama to see what the good folks of Fairhope have accomplished.
