This village has no shopping and only one restaurant, but if you are looking for a community with high-quality, historic homes, you should certainly investigate Mooresville. When we last visited, what little new construction underway was being done in a tasteful fashion, respectful of existing vintage homes. Because of the historic nature of the town’s homes, Mooresville is sometimes referred to as Alabama’s Williamsburg. Its ambiance is enhanced by an abundance of shade trees and white picket fences. Mooresville is the oldest incorporated town in Alabama. The entire town, characterized by some as a picturesque 1818 village, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The post office, which is the oldest still in operation in the state, features call boxes built prior to the Civil War. The town served as the primary filming location for the movie Tom and Huck. Mooresville is conveniently located just south of I-565, 20 miles west of Huntsville, in northern Alabama.
