Tubac is a paradise for artists, art lovers and art buyers. Even if you don’t like art, you will certainly be impressed with the variety and quantity of the work products displayed. It took me two hours to film this town, and I don’t recall seeing a single retailer not selling some type of artisan’s creations. Although Tubac is small (less than 1,000 per the 2000 census), it still has coffee shops and restaurants available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. This art colony was established in 1752 as a Spanish Fort. Retail establishments now surround the grounds that once served as the home for a Spanish military garrison. The Tubac Presidio State Historic Park can be found in the older section of the village. The Tubac Center of the Arts provides a full range of arts programming, as well as seasonal exhibitions. EARNS OUR HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.
