Stroll the covered boardwalks in front of historic buildings on Main Street and imagine how life would have been in this once-thriving 1800's gold town. The town is named after Jose Maria Amador, a wealthy California rancher. Over its lifespan, Amador City's Keystone mine produced an amazing $24 million in gold. Amador City is California's smallest incorporated city in both population and city limits. This small town is just off Route 49 between Jackson and Placerville.
