Arroyo Grande, California
(pronounced uh-roy-oh gran-day)

It is surprising to find an old authentic town in Southern CA. A small town like this is a rarity in this part of the state. Arroyo Grande is on Highway 101, roughly 25 miles south of San Luis Obispo. Because of its mild climate and rich soil, this area is one of the most productive agricultural regions in California. Constructed in 1875, The Arroyo Grande Swinging Bridge is 171 feet long and spans the Arroyo Grande Creek, 40 feet below. This bridge is the only one of its kind in California. Just another nice feature of this lovely town. Camp, picnic, hike and water ski at picturesque Lopez Lake Recreational Area, located 10 miles northeast of Arroyo Grande. |
