Calico, California
(pronounced kal-uh-co)

In its beginning, Calico was a silver mining site, then later abandoned and became a ‘ghost’ town. In 1951, Walter Knott, founder of Knott's Berry Farm, purchased the town and began restoring it to its original condition referencing old photographs. In 1966, Knott donated the town to San Bernardino County, and Calico became a county regional park. We are confident that any member of your family, regardless of age, will thoroughly enjoy this experience. There is plenty of shopping for the women folk, a narrow gauge train ride for the ‘young-uns’, and mining and western law-enforcement artifacts/displays to appeal to the gents. There is a restaurant with outside seating and views of the surrounding topography to entertain the entire family. EARNS OUR HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION. |
