Ojai has the most unusual post office – housed in a replica Spanish mission tower. Because of its impressive surrounding scenery, including the Topa Topa mountains that tower over the north side of town, Ojai is a frequent film location. The most notable of which was the 1937 movie Lost Horizon, depicting the Ojai area as the fictitious Shangri-La. The town is the home of the Ojai Film Festival, which showcases independent films from around the world. This small town is home to the annual Ojai Playwrights Conference, a two-week playwrights festival that brings professional writers and actors from across the country. Ojai is located in the Ojai Valley, about 75 miles north of Los Angeles. |
