Dozens of mineral springs are prevalent in the area, thus the name of this small town. The town provides several spigots, so locals and tourists can enjoy the mineral waters. In the 1960's, Manitou gained a reputation as a hippie hangout. With its many interesting retail shops and restaurants, this small town provides a great day trip from Denver or the front range. The Pikes Peak Cog Railway can be boarded just outside town. If you visit Manitou, be sure to experience the interesting rock formations at nearby Garden of the Gods.
