New Castle, Delaware
|
|
New Castle is the most history-rich of the small towns we recommend in Delaware, and has the oldest, most authentic feel to it. You wont find many towns in the U.S. older than New Castle, as it was settled by the Dutch West India Company in 1651.New Castle was Delaware's Colonial capitol and contains the first state house. Cobblestone streets enhance this sense of antiquity. The historic districts location on the Delaware Bay adds to the popularity of this small town. Battery Park, along the Delaware River, has picnic tables, a playground, tennis and basketball courts, and a walking path. The walking path is part of the East Coast Greenway. |
