Arcadia, Florida

The Reverend James Hendry named the town in honor of Arcadia Albritton, a daughter of pioneer settlers who baked him a cake for his birthday. He appreciated it so much he named the city after her. Arcadia has several antique stores housed in early 1900 buildings.
The historic Peace River, a Florida State Paddling Trail, is nearby and runs through DeSoto County.
