NOVELTY VISIT

Everglades City exudes a small town bayou-type atmosphere. Although it is only 15 miles from I-75, yet seems worlds away from the congestion of densely-populated South Florida. If you want to experience a pleasant drive spotting gators on the sides of the roads, ‘Alligator Alley’ state roads 29 and 41 will provide this entertainment. Everglades City proclaims itself as the Gateway to the 10,000 Islands, and for paddlers that is most certainly true. Visitors use Everglades City as a base for explorations of Big Cypress National Preserve, Everglades National Park, and Fakahatchee Strand State Preserve.
