Don't let the titty bar on the I-75 exit discourage (or delay!) your venture into this unusual town. Only 1 mile east of Interstate 75 - you don't want to miss this one. In 2006, Micanopy was voted "Best Antique Shopping" town by readers of Florida Magazine.
Micanopy was the first distinct United States town in Florida, with settlement beginning after Spain ceded the Florida territory in 1821. Its historic district was listed on National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
