In December 1987, Adairsville became the first town in Georgia to be listed in its entirety on the National Register of Historic Places.  If you visit this small town, be sure to stop in the Adairsville Rail Depot Age of Steam Museum.   Here you will learn the fascinating story of Adairsville's participation in the famous Great Locomotive Chase during the Civil War.  Adairsville is also well known for Barnsley Gardens, now a golf resort. Adairsville is located on Route 140, just west of Interstate 75, 50 miles north of Atlanta.
