Madison, Georgia

SmallTownGems has visited thousands of small towns in this country. We have photographed countless courthouses of distinctive architecture, and Madison's is one of the best we have seen. The Madison residential area has some of the nicest houses for a small town in the south. In his destructive March To The Sea, Civil War Union Commander William Tecumseh Sherman spared Madison from the torch and wrath of his troops, because he opined this small town was “too pretty to burn”. With 100 antebellum homes, Madison has the second largest historic district in the state of Georgia (next to Macon). EARNS OUR HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION. |
