Most attractive oceanfront small towns on the Atlantic seaboard are overrun with tourists. St. Mary’s is not one of them. We have visited and photographed several small towns in this coastal area including Beaufort, SC, Jekyll Island, GA, Fernandina Beach, FL and St. Augustine, FL. St. Mary’s is by far the least trafficked. The local chamber of commerce describes this small town as “enchanting storybook setting on the St. Mary’s River beckons with white picket fences and Victorian Inns”. I think this is an accurate depiction.
