Morris is the county seat of Grundy County and is situated along the Illinois River. The 61.5-mile-long Illinois and Michigan (I&M) Canal is adjacent to downtown. It is paralleled with a crushed-limestone pedestrian towpath that extends from Rockdale to LaSalle. Although Morris hosts numerous annual festivals, the largest and most popular is the Grundy County Corn Festival. Morris is home to the Dresden Nuclear Power Plant, which provides a substantial portion of the electricity supply for the Chicago metropolitan area. The William G. Stratton State Park provides boat launching on the Illinois River.
