This old small town on the Ohio River offers one of the few remaining ferry services between Kentucky and Ohio. It has been in operation for over 200 years – a reflection of the history that can be found in this small town. The jail in Augusta is Kentucky's oldest. It was used to hold runaway slaves for transport South. The front lawn was also the site of slave auctions. Augusta’s most famous resident was Rosemary Clooney and her life is celebrated in the Rosemary Clooney House. The Augusta Riverfest Regatta is held each July. |
