Founded in 1774, this small town was the first permanent English settlement west of the Allegheny Mountains, and is the oldest municipality in Kentucky. At nearby Old Fort Harrod State Park, you can learn more about the history of this old small town. Shaker Village is the largest restored Shaker community in America and is a short distance from Harrodsburg. The village operates the 115-passenger Dixie Belle along the Kentucky River. Harrodsburg is the county seat of Mercer County. |
