Although Annapolis technically is not a particularly small town ( 2006 population approx. 36,000), the encapsulated downtown historic district has a small town feel to it.  Annapolis is the Capital of Maryland and home of the United States Naval Academy.  Both are within easy strolling distance of the downtown market district.  The town is located on a hill overlooking the Chesapeake Bay.  It is a popular work-stress-escape destination for the working stiffs in Baltimore and Washington DC.  It is also the bridge gateway to more beautiful small towns on Maryland’s eastern shore.  EARNS OUR HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.
