New Ulm is located in the scenic Minnesota River Valley in south central Minnesota. This small town was founded in 1854 by German immigrants, and is a showpiece of their construction craftsmanship. Flandrau State Park is located along the Cottonwood River on the outskirts of New Ulm. The park contains an innovative sand-bottomed filtered swimming pool. New Ulm now has its own bike path, in a state that has more miles of bike paths than any other in the country. The Minnesota Music Hall of Fame is located in this small town. Oktoberfest, a celebration of German culture, has been celebrated the first two weekends in October since 1981. New Ulm is the county seat of Brown County. Martin Luther College in New Ulm has an enrollment of approx. 800 undergraduates. The town was founded in 1854 by German immigrants and named it after the city of Ulm in southern Germany. |
