Kosciusko is a small town in central Mississippi, just minutes from the scenic Natchez Trace Parkway and is the host of the annual Natchez Trace Festival. The 444-mile Natchez Trace Parkway is a designated National Scenic Trail and is managed by the National Park Service. It is a slow-pace, two-line thoroughfare designed to accommodate both autos and bicycles. Kosciusko is the hometown of Oprah Winfrey. The showcase of the town is the Historic Downtown Courtsquare. Kosciusko is the county seat of Attala County. The town is named for the Polish-Lithuanian general Tadeusz Kościuszko, who assisted United States military efforts during the American Revolution. |
