Vicksburg is the most improved southern small town we have seen in quite some time. It’s hard to believe that this downtown was bombed into submission during the Civil War by the Union Armada floating on the Mississippi River below Vicksburg’s bluffs. This town has some of the best and most abundant outside painted murals we have witnessed. In addition to its already-significant improvements, many more sites of restoration and expansion are underway. While in Vicksburg, you don’t want to miss the Biedenharn Coca-Cola Museum where this famous American beverage was first bottled in 1894. Every summer, Vicksburg plays host to the Miss Mississippi Pageant and Parade. Whether you enjoy visiting Civil War historic military sites, riverboat casino gambling, or touring a lovely downtown area, Vicksburg has a lot to offer. Vicksburg is the county seat of Warren County. It was incorporated in 1825 and named after Newitt Vick, a Methodist minister. He had been a conscientious objector during the American Revolution. EARNS OUR HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.
