Ste. Genevieve, Missouri
(pronounced jen-uh-veeve)
The only original French Colonial Village left in the United States. Ste. Genevieve is a small town along the Mississippi River, 50 miles south of St. Louis. If you want old – this small town was founded in 1735, and was the first permanent European settlement in what is now the state of Missouri. The Louis and Clark expedition camped here in 1803. If you visit Ste. Genevieve, be sure to stop at The Great River Road Interpretive Center / Tourist Information Office on the corner of Market and Main Streets.
