This small town has the best and largest historic commercial district we have seen in Montana. It bills itself as ‘The Gateway to Yellowstone Park via the beautiful Beartooth Highway.’ Red Lodge is well known for many outdoor recreation opportunities: skiing, mountain biking, and backpacking are nearby. In April it is host to a triathlon called the Peaks to Prairie. Red Lodge is the county seat of Carbon County. The Carbon County Arts Guild and Depot Gallery is located on 8th Street.
