This cute historic small town, in northern New Jersey, is known for its antique shopping. It offers 59 antique and 80 specialty boutique stores. When you visit Chester, come hungry, as the town has 15 eateries, from fine dining to pizza, tea rooms, coffee houses and ice cream parlors. The 1826 historic Cooper Mill is a working gristmill that runs 2 sets of millstones, powered by the Black River. It can be found on Route 24, just 2 miles outside Chester. Willowwood Arboretum is a 130-acre arboretum and public park located at 300 Longview Road. It is part of the Morris County Park System and is open to the public daily. The town was chartered in 1779 and named after Chester, England, the ancestral home of many of the residents. The small town of Chester is only 10 miles from Interstates 80, 78 and 287, due west of New York City. |
