Just east of Princeton, NJ is the quaint small town of Cranbury. Even its name is adorable. Cranbury is one of the oldest towns in New Jersey, founded in 1697. Its name is derived from marshy land near the mill site, once used as a cranberry bog. The focal point of town is Brainerd Lake. This town is rich in history - George Washington's headquarters was located in Cranbury while planning for the Battle of Monmouth, a major turning point during the American Revolutionary War. The Cranbury Historical and Preservation Society is dedicated to the beautification of this lovely small town.
