Lambertville is the sister small town of New Hope, Pennsylvania, just across the Delaware River. Both towns are recommended by SmallTownGems. The town is known for its upscale antique shops and eateries, as well as its scenic location on the Delaware River. Lambertville is known as The Antique Capital of New Jersey - collectors can find everything from 18th-century furniture and decorative arts to 50's Modern. Victorian and Federal row homes grace its streets. New Jersey's longest park, the Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park and bike path, runs thru Lambertville. The town was named Lambertville in 1814 when the post office was established, in honor of John Lambert, a local resident, who had served as United States Senator and Acting Governor of New Jersey. |
