Skaneateles is located 20 miles southwest of Syracuse. The most impressive visual aspect of this small town is that the downtown commercial district is immediately adjacent to picturesque Skaneateles Lake, one of the many beautiful New York Finger Lakes.  Austin Park, on the shores of this lake, is the location of the annual Antique and Classic Boat Show.  The Skaneateles Community Band provides free concerts along the lake every Friday evening in July and August. The name of this town is derived from the Iroquois Indian tribe term for the adjacent lake: "long lake." Its desirable location with scenic surroundings and the fine architecture of the many shops and restaurants in its downtown, are the reasons Skaneateles EARNS OUR HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.
