A charming downtown waterfront on the Albemarle Sound lends credence to the Eden in Edenton. Established in 1712, this small town is one of the oldest in North Carolina. The town contains three centuries of architecture behind tree-lined sidewalks and along waterfront vistas. Because of its numerous Jacobean, Georgian, Federal, Greek Revival, and Victorian structures, this town has been awarded with two National Historic Landmarks and numerous listings on the National Register of Historic Places. A popular pastime for tourists is the Historic Edenton Tour. Edenton’s Mill Village was named one of the Top 10 Cottage Communities in the Nation by Cottage Living Magazine. The 2007 independent feature film, Dog Days of Summer, was shot entirely on location in historic Edenton. Edenton is located in North Carolina’s northeast Inner Banks region and is the county seat of Chowan County. Edenton is home to the Edenton Steamers of the Coastal Plain League, a collegiate summer baseball league.
