Germantown, Ohio
Germantown is an attractive small town between Dayton and Cincinnati, in the southwest corner of Ohio. As you may guess from its name, it is flush with brick commercial and residential buildings, born from the craftsmanship of its early German inhabitants. Among its many impressive structures are one of the prettiest covered bridges and firehouses in any small town we have seen. Notable landmarks include the Florentine Hotel (the second oldest hotel in the State of Ohio), the old opera house and many historic private homes. In May 1976, the downtown core, known as the Gunckel Town Plat, was recognized by the National Historical Park Service of the U.S. Department of the Interior as a National Historic Site and Historical Preservation District.
