Olmsted Falls, Ohio

This small town is a convenient day trip from Cleveland (otherwise known as The Mistake By The Lake). Olmsted Falls has a small shopping district on a bluff overlooking Plum Creek. This is known as the Grand Pacific Junction Historic Shopping District. At the far end of town is a quaint pedestrian-only covered bridge that spans the creek. In 1829, the community agreed to name itself after Charles Olmstead in exchange for his library, said to be the first west of the Alleghenies. A gristmill and sawmill were built at the falls of the west branch of the Rocky River in the 1820's. |
