Tipp City, Ohio

This small town was originally known as Tippecanoe City, in reference to presidential candidate William Henry Harrison's nickname, Tippecanoe, to honor his heroism in the Battle of Tippecanoe in 1811. Tipp City was once an important stop along the Miami-Erie Canal; the now-dry canal locks can be seen just east of downtown. Currently under construction, the Miami County Bike Trail will be a north-south paved biking trail that will stretch the length of Miami County, allowing bikers, hikers and walkers to follow the path of the Great Miami River and Miami and Erie Canal. In the fourth week of September each year, the city, in partnership with local garden center Spring Hill Nurseries, puts on the Mum Festival. |
