Urbana is the home of Urbana University - a liberal arts college with an enrollment of 1,500 and a 128-acre campus. Historically, this small town is best known as the burial place of frontiersman and Indian fighter Simon Kenton. Urbana was once an important juncture in railroad lines connecting Pittsburgh, Chicago, Cincinnati and St. Louis. One rail line has since been transformed into a 100-mile-long paved bike path connecting Urbana with Cincinnati. The meticulously-restored train station along the bike path in Urbana has been converted into a restaurant and coffee shop.  This small town contains two national residential historic districts. Urbana is the county seat of Champaign County.
