small town summary

Sisters is surrounded by the Deschutes National Forest, on the eastern edge of the Cascade mountain Range. The name of the town is in reference to 3 nearby adjacent (or 'sister') mountain peaks. Although all downtown commercial buildings are fairly new, they are tastefully constructed to mimic old western storefronts with a cowboy theme. The Sisters area is also home to several mountain biking trails, including the Peterson Ridge and Suttle Lake trails. Hoodoo ski resort and many snow parks are nearby. This small town sponsors many annual events including Sisters Summer Faires , Sisters Bead Stampede, Art Strolls, Sisters Rodeo, Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show, Antique Show, Western and Native American Arts Festival, Sisters Folk Festival and Harvest Faire. The town’s elevation of 3,180 feet provides for cool nighttime temperatures during the warmer months. This, combined with an arid climate, makes it popular for summer vacationers.
