Lititz, Pennsylvania
(pronounced lit-its)
Lititz was founded by the Moravian Church in 1756, and for a century, only members of the congregation were allowed to live in town. This small town is noteworthy as the longest continuous celebration of Independence Day. The town is closed to traffic during the festivities. Lititz has one of the finest examples of vintage train stations I have seen. A popular attraction in town is the 1861 Sturgis Pretzel House, the oldest commercial pretzel bakery in the United States. Also visit the Wilbur Chocolate Candy Store and Museum, where you can watch the creation of fudge, chocolate and other delicacies. |
