Wall, South Dakota

Wall is certainly not our typical recommended small town, but looks like great fun for the youngsters. Where else can your kids ride on a giant jackalope? The town is most famous for Wall Drug Store, which opened as a small pharmacy during the Depression but eventually developed into a large roadside tourist attraction. “The Wall” standing between the great upper prairie flats and gentle grassy hills, is a rugged strip of tinted spires, ridges, and twisted gullies that ranges from a half mile to three miles wide and is over nine miles long. It is this series of formations that gave the town of Wall its name. The Wall Drug Store displays a $3 million art collection and offers a nostalgic 5-cent coffee. |
