Boerne is known for its many antique and art shops, and is a popular day-trip visit for residents of Austin and San Antonio. Adding to the charm of this small town is the Cibolo Creek, which flows through downtown. Outside Boerne is the 1,900 acre Guadalupe River State Park, popular with inner-tubers along this lazy waterway. A hike and bike trail runs across Boerne for visitors and residents enjoyment. 189-acre Boerne Lake is located just off of I-10 less than a mile northwest of town. Boerne was named in honor of Ludwig Börne, a German author and publicist. This small town is the county seat of Kendall County. |
