NOVELTY VISIT.

This tiny hamlet was put on the map in 1977, when country music stars Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson recorded the song "Luckenbach, Texas (Back to the Basics of Love)". The only civic building in this ‘town’ is the post office. The front portion of this structure is a general store where tourists can purchase souvenirs. The rear of the building is a small saloon and dance floor. Local musicians provide free entertainment each afternoon. In the outdoor area is the historic all-wood rustic Luckenbach Dance Hall, restrooms and other music-performance areas. Luckenbach was established in 1849. One of the first settlers in the area was Jacob Luckenbach (1817-1911).
