Visitors will enjoy plenty of shopping in the quaint shops along picturesque Salado Creek. This small town is home to the Stagecoach Inn, which describes itself as the oldest continuously running hotel in Texas. Salado has been home to many esteemed individuals including authors, two Texas governors, Texas patriot Sam Houston, and famous general George Armstrong Custer. Just east of town can be found plenty of attractive housing adjacent to the Mill Creek Inn & Golf Club. This small town derives its name from Salado Creek, which was selected as the first Texas Natural Landmark. The Creek was given its name in 1716 by Spanish explorer Domingo Ramón. Salado is a breeze to get to, immediately east of I-35 between Waco and Austin, in central Texas.
