A water park called Splash Town is located in Spring. Old Town Spring is a historic 1900’s railroad town along the Great Northern Railroad line. It is a popular shopping area for residents of Houston and across Texas. The village consists of 150 shops, restaurants, museums and art galleries enclosed in small wooden Victorian buildings. Like most men, I detest the overwhelming scale of big-box shopping malls. But the inviting and cozy structures housing retail stores in this small town make shopping almost tolerable. Old Town Spring hosts six major festivals each year: Springfest, Celebration of Easter, Texas Crawfish & Music Festival, the Long Horn Rod Run, PetFest and Down Home Christmas. Spring is on the northern outskirts of Houston, only 2 miles east of I-45. The name of this locale is traced back to 1838, when William Pierpont placed a trading post on Spring Creek.
