In close proximity to Bull Run and Appomattox, Culpeper is a great stay over for those visiting Civil War sites in Northern Virginia. This small town is midway between the skyline of Washington D.C. and the Skyline Drive; the Atlantic Ocean and the Blue Ridge Mountains. Culpeper's historic district includes Victorian mansions, a 1950's style drive-in diner, the 1904 train depot and many commercial structures from the 1800's. In & Around Culpeper, a free walking and driving tour guide featuring three 30-60 minute walking tours and one 30-minute driving tour, is available at the Visitors Center. Amtrak, the national passenger rail service, provides service to Culpeper. Culpeper is located on Route 15, about 25 miles west of I-95, and 40 miles southwest of Washington D.C. |
