(pronounced chuh-lan)

Chelan is located in Washington's central fruit-growing region. Its downtown is strategically located at the eastern end of the 55-mile-long Lake Chelan. As a result, the lake enhances Chelan's desirable location and provides income from tourism and recreational opportunities. Lake Chelan's 1480-foot depth earns it the distinction as America's third deepest lake. All-day boat excursions are available to tour the length of the lake. Water enthusiasts utilize the lake in all fashions, whether it be water-skiing, jet-skiing, parasailing, kayaking, canoeing, rowing, tubing, paddle boating, windsurfing, scuba diving or sailboating. Parks are abundant along the area waterways, including both 25-Mile Creek & Lake Chelan State Parks; along the north shore at Mill Bay Park; and in Chelan at Riverwalk Park. The Columbia River offers Chelan Falls Park, Powerhouse Park, and Beebe Bridge Park. Unlike rainy western Washington, Chelan enjoys a dry, sunny climate. . |
